  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Use fresh or frozen shrimp.
  • 4 cups seafood or vegetable broth Vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.

Richness and Flavor

  • 1 cup heavy cream Substitute with coconut cream for dairy-free.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning Adjust based on spice preference.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust based on preference.
  • for garnish Chopped parsley Fresh parsley enhances presentation.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Cook the Base

  • In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the garlic is fragrant (about 2-3 minutes).

Add the Broth

  • Pour in the seafood broth. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.

Cook the Shrimp

  • Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink (about 3-4 minutes).

Stir in the Crab Meat

  • Fold in the crab meat and Old Bay seasoning. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Incorporate the Cream

  • Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes.

Season to Taste

  • Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve Hot

  • Ladle into bowls and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

For a spicier bisque, consider adding chili flakes or jalapeños. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
