Ingredients
  

Chickpeas

  • cups cooked chickpeas (well-drained and thoroughly dried, approximately 370 g)

Seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil Can substitute with avocado oil or coconut oil.
  • teaspoon fine sea salt Optional alternatives include garlic salt or onion powder.
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Aleppo pepper or red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest Can substitute with fresh lime zest for a tangy twist.

Preparation

  • Ensure your kitchen is tidy, and gather all your ingredients.
  • Dry the chickpeas thoroughly on a kitchen towel until matte and not damp.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine extra-virgin olive oil, fine sea salt, smoked paprika, ground coriander, garlic powder, Aleppo pepper, and lemon zest. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the dried chickpeas to the spice mixture and toss until coated.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (205°C).
  • Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air-fry the chickpeas for about 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Continue air-frying for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until deep golden and crispy.
  • Transfer the chickpeas to a bowl and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for 3-5 days. If reheating, place in the air fryer for about 3-5 minutes to restore crunchiness.
