Main Ingredients

  • 500 g beef strips flank or sirloin preferred
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 red chilies sliced
  • 1 bell pepper sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Slice the beef into thin strips and prepare vegetables. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Fry the beef in batches until golden and crispy (4–5 minutes per batch). Drain on paper towels.
  • In the same pan, sauté garlic, ginger, and sliced red chilies for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add bell pepper and cook for another 2–3 minutes, keeping it slightly crunchy.
  • Stir in sugar, vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to form a glossy sauce.
  • Return beef to the pan and toss until well coated. Cook for 1 more minute.
  • Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce. Add more vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for variety. Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain crispiness. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor.
