  • 1 cup crab meat, cooked and shredded
  • 1 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup queso cheese, shredded
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • ½ cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • to taste salt and pepper

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Cook and shred the crab meat if not pre-cooked. Prepare the shrimp by peeling and deveining, and measure out everything.
  • In a large bowl, combine crab meat, shrimp, queso cheese, green onions, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat until pliable.
  • Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each tortilla, roll tightly, and secure with a toothpick if necessary.

Cooking

  • In a deep skillet, heat oil over medium heat, enough to cover half the taquitos.
  • Fry the rolled taquitos in batches for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Transfer fried taquitos to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Remove any toothpicks used to secure the taquitos.

Serving

  • Plate the taquitos and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot with sour cream and salsa for dipping.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. You can freeze the taquitos after cooking, and reheat in the oven for crispiness.
