Ingredients

For the salad

  • 180 g arugula Washed and trimmed
  • 150 g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 piece cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 60 g green onions, sliced
  • 60 g onion, thinly sliced
  • 30 g sesame seeds Toasted for extra flavor, if desired

For the dumplings

  • 1 bag frozen dumplings of choice (20–30 pieces) Use gluten-free dumplings for a gluten-free version
  • 15 ml olive oil, for frying Can substitute with sesame oil for a nutty flavor

For the dressing

  • 75 ml tamari or soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free alternative
  • 30 ml rice vinegar
  • 5 g freshly minced garlic
  • 5 g freshly grated ginger
  • 15 g brown sugar
  • 15 ml chili crisp or chili oil
  • 30–45 ml water, to thin dressing Add incrementally until desired consistency is reached

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Wash the arugula, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green onions, and onion. Halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the cucumber thinly, and chop the green onions and onions.

Make the Dressing

  • In a medium bowl, combine the tamari or soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and brown sugar. Whisk together until well blended, then gradually add water until the dressing reaches your preferred consistency.

Cook the Dumplings

  • In a large pan, heat 15 ml of olive oil over medium-high heat until hot. Arrange the frozen dumplings in a single layer in the pan and cook for 3–5 minutes, turning occasionally until all sides are golden brown.

Prepare the Salad Bowl

  • While the dumplings are cooking, take a large salad bowl and add the arugula, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green onions, and onion. Toss gently to mix.

Combine and Serve

  • Once the dumplings are crispy, transfer them from the pan into the bowl of salad ingredients. Drizzle the soy dressing over the salad and dumplings, sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and toss everything together gently.
  • Plate the salad into individual servings immediately to maintain freshness.

Notes

For added spice, drizzle extra chili oil over the salad before serving. Store leftover salad in an airtight container, keeping dumplings separate from greens for optimal texture.
