Equipment

  • Crockpot / Slow Cooker
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Forks (for shredding)

Ingredients

Chicken & Sauce

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 ½ cups Dr Pepper soda can use regular or diet
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce your favorite variety
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 3 tsp garlic (minced)
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Dr Pepper, barbecue sauce, onion powder, minced garlic, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your crockpot and pour the sauce mixture over them, making sure they’re fully coated.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours (or on HIGH for 2½–3½ hours) until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir into the sauce.
  • Serve the Dr Pepper chicken on buns, sliders, over rice, or as your favorite main dish.

Notes

For best results, trim excess fat from the chicken before cooking. You can customize the sauce with additional spices or serve with coleslaw on buns for a hearty meal. Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for 3–4 days and can also be frozen for later. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
