Ribs & Rub

  • 2 pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs) about 2 racks
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar for rub
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika for flavor
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Sauce & Finish

  • 2 cups barbecue sauce store-bought or homemade
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar optional, for tang

Instructions
 

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (optional but recommended for tenderness). Pat ribs dry with paper towels.
  • Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Rub the spice blend all over both sides of the ribs.
  • Place the seasoned ribs in the crockpot. If needed, cut the racks into smaller sections to fit snugly.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the ribs, covering them evenly. Add apple cider vinegar and liquid smoke if using for extra flavor.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or on HIGH for 4–5 hours, until the ribs are tender and fall off the bone.
  • Optional: For a caramelized finish, place ribs on a baking sheet, brush with extra barbecue sauce, and broil for 3–5 minutes until slightly charred and sticky.
