  • 1 whole whole chicken
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 cup chicken broth

Preparation

  • Start by gathering your ingredients. Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat dry using paper towels.
  • Rub the chicken generously with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper evenly over the chicken.
  • Carefully lower the chicken into the Crockpot.
  • Pour the chicken broth around the sides of the chicken.

Cooking

  • Cover the Crockpot and set it to low. Allow the chicken to cook for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  • Check the chicken's internal temperature using a meat thermometer; it should read 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.

Finishing

  • Once fully cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the Crockpot using tongs.
  • Let the chicken rest for about 10-15 minutes before carving.
  • Shred the chicken or slice it for serving.

Notes

Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze chicken meat once cooled for up to 3 months.
