Browning the Base

  • Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  • Remove from heat and mix in granulated and brown sugars until glossy.

Mixing the Batter

  • Stir in vanilla extract until well blended.
  • In another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, spices, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in molasses until evenly incorporated.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.

Cooling and Drizzling

  • Let brownies cool in the pan before lifting them out using parchment paper.
  • Mix dark chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in intervals until smooth.
  • Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled brownies, then let set before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or freeze for three months. For a deeper flavor, consider adding a touch of espresso powder or a sprinkle of sea salt on top before the drizzle sets.
