Equipment

  • Muffin tin
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Sharp knife or mandoline

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry thawed
  • 2 apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg optional
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Slice apples thinly, remove cores, and toss slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  • Roll out puff pastry and cut into strips (about 3 inches wide by 12 inches long).
  • Arrange apple slices along one edge of each pastry strip, overlapping slightly and letting them hang over the edge.
  • Fold bottom edge of pastry over the apples, then roll up the strip tightly to form a rose shape.
  • Place rolled pastries into a muffin tin. Brush with melted butter and egg wash, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Try swapping apples for pears or adding a dash of apple pie spice for extra flavor. These pastries also work wonderfully with gluten-free puff pastry.
