  • ½ cup unsalted butter Melted for the recipe.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, adds flavor.

  • 1 ½ cups blueberries Can use fresh or frozen.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Measure all ingredients for a smooth process.

Melting Butter

  • Place half a cup of unsalted butter in a 10-inch cast iron skillet or baking dish. Allow the butter to melt in the oven.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt.

Combining Ingredients

  • Pour in the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the blueberries and vanilla extract carefully.

Baking

  • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the skillet, spreading evenly without stirring.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cooling

Notes
