  • 1 cup nuts Optional, can omit.

Preparation

  • Ensure your kitchen is clean and organized. Gather all ingredients and tools.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing gently until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze the dough or baked cookies. Reheat cookies at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes if needed.
