Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to make the process smoother.
  • Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Incorporate the eggs one at a time into the butter and sugar mix, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Add red food coloring and mix until the color is uniform.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • After chilling, scoop out tablespoons of dough, roll them into balls, and coat each ball in powdered sugar.
  • Place cookie balls on the prepared baking sheets, 2 inches apart, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Let them cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
