Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with oat flour or gluten-free blend.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • ½ cup mashed banana Can substitute with pumpkin puree.
  • ¼ cup honey Optional; can be omitted for lower sugar.
  • ¼ cup peanut butter Use xylitol-free peanut butter.
  • ¼ cup water Adjust for desired batter consistency.

Decorations

  • ¼ cup carob chips Optional for decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather and measure all ingredients.

Make Batter

  • In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, mix together the apple sauce, banana, honey (if using), and peanut butter until smooth.
  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • If the batter is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until it is thick but pourable.

Baking

  • Fill cupcake liners halfway with batter.
  • Sprinkle carob chips on top of the batter if desired.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cupcakes cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Serving

  • Once cooled, serve the cupcakes to your dog and enjoy their excitement!

Notes

These cupcakes can be served for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries or just as a fun treat. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
