Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup Dr Pepper Regular or diet version can be used.
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce Choose your favorite brand.
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle in adobo sauce Adjust to taste for spice level.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Optional: can use any cooking oil.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Use according to preference.

For the Chicken

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts Make sure they are thawed.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients, ensuring chicken is thawed.
  • In a bowl, mix together Dr Pepper, BBQ sauce, chipotle sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Place chicken breasts in a resealable bag or shallow dish, pour marinade over, seal, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.

Grilling

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove chicken from marinade, discarding the leftover marinade.
  • Grill chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side, ensuring internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Brush chicken with additional BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of grilling.
  • Remove from grill and let rest for several minutes before slicing.
  • Slice and serve as desired.

Notes

To avoid bland chicken, ensure marinating time is sufficient. You can mix in fresh herbs for added flavor. To cater to vegan or gluten-free diets, substitute chicken and verify BBQ sauce ingredients accordingly.
