  • 1 container container Cool Whip (about 8 ounces)
  • 1 can fruit cocktail, drained (about 15 ounces) Must be drained well to avoid a watery salad.
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup mandarin oranges, drained Must be drained well.
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional) Can be omitted or replaced with seeds.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract Essential for added flavor.

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients and measuring them out for convenience.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the container of Cool Whip and the drained fruit cocktail. Gently fold the two together.
  • Toss in the mini marshmallows, mixing carefully for even distribution.
  • Add in the shredded coconut and stir gently.
  • Introduce the drained mandarin oranges into the bowl.
  • If using, mix in the chopped nuts.
  • Pour in the vanilla extract and give the mixture a gentle final stir.
  • Chill the salad for at least an hour before serving.
  • Before serving, give the salad a quick stir and garnish with extra coconut or nuts on top if desired.
  • Serve cold for the best experience.

Notes

Best enjoyed when chilled and served cold. Can be prepared a day in advance for convenience. This salad lasts 3-5 days in the refrigerator.
