Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (granules)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prep your workspace by gathering all ingredients and tools: cutting board, sharp knife, mixing bowl, and skillet.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, chili powder, dried oregano, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel, rub the spice mix over both sides of the pork chops, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Heat the skillet over medium-high heat, adding olive oil to the pan until it shimmers.
  • Place the seasoned pork chops into the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Check the internal temperature to ensure it reaches 145°F (63°C).
  • Optional: During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle a little extra brown sugar over the chops to create a glaze.
  • Remove the chops from the skillet and let them rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve with complementary sides.
