Ingredients
  

For the pastry

  • 1 package puff pastry If unavailable, consider using crescent roll dough.
  • 1 egg beaten egg (for egg wash) Gives a golden, glossy finish.

For the filling

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Can substitute with mascarpone or ricotta.
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese Can swap with mozzarella, gouda, or other meltable cheese.
  • ¼ cup diced green onions
  • ¼ cup chopped bell peppers Any veggies like spinach or mushrooms can work.
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to a uniform thickness. Cut into 3-4 inch squares.

Make the filling

  • In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, bell peppers, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy.

Assembly

  • Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and pinch to seal tightly.

Baking

  • Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash.
  • Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

These pastries can be made ahead; freeze unbaked for up to a month or refrigerate the filling. Serve with sparkling cider, dips, or fresh herbs for garnish.
