  • 3 large eggs Ensure they are at room temperature.
  • 1 cup sour cream Can be substituted with dairy-free yogurt.
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

For the Topping

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour Use a gluten-free flour blend if necessary.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Consider a sugar substitute for lower sugar option.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon Can increase for more flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup melted butter Use plant-based butter for dairy-free option.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly using cooking spray or softened butter.

Mix Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread out evenly.
  • In another bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Add melted butter to the topping mixture and mix until coarse crumbs form.

Assemble and Bake

  • Sprinkle half of the crumb mixture over the cake batter and swirl it into the batter.
  • Sprinkle the remaining crumb topping over the top and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.

Notes
