  • Rolling Pin
  • Tart Pan
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Pastry Dough

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Filling and Finishing

  • 1 cup mincemeat filling
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all your ingredients.
  • In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Add cold, cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add the egg yolk and water gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut circles to fit into tart pans.
  • Press the dough into tart pans and trim any excess.
  • Fill each tart shell with mincemeat filling, leaving a small gap at the top.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough for the best flaky crust. Avoid overfilling the tart shells. Mincemeat tarts store well refrigerated up to one week or frozen for up to three months.
