Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Tongs
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

Steak Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks with good marbling for best flavor
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter for cooking
  • 2 cloves garlic optional, adds aroma
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary or thyme optional, for flavor

Instructions

  • Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  • Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat until it’s very hot to achieve a good sear.
  • Season both sides of the ribeye steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  • Add olive oil or butter to the skillet. If using, add garlic and herbs to infuse the fat with aroma.
  • Cook the steaks for about 4–5 minutes on the first side until a crust forms.
  • Flip the steaks and cook another 4–5 minutes, adjusting the time for your preferred doneness.
  • Check the internal temperature — aim for 130°F for medium-rare or 140°F for medium.
  • Remove from heat and let the steaks rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  • Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes or grilled vegetables.

Notes

Letting the steak rest before slicing ensures maximum juiciness. For extra flavor, top with garlic butter or fresh herbs before serving. Pair with a robust red wine for the best experience.
