  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed) Store-bought or homemade
  • 0.5 cup pesto sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Or your favorite cheese
  • 1 piece egg For egg wash
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Flour For dusting

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop for smooth preparation.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Unroll your thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut the puff pastry into triangles approximately 6 inches tall.
  • Spread a thin layer of pesto on one side of each triangle, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  • Fold the triangle in half and roll from the wide end to the point, forming a tree shape.
  • Make shallow cuts on the sides of the rolled dough for a decorative flare.
  • Brush the formed pastry trees with the whisked egg.
  • Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

These pastries can be prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze unbaked pastries for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes.
