Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between prepared cake pans.

Baking

  • Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  • Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pans.

Whipping and Assembling

  • While the cakes cool, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Once the cakes are completely cool, layer them with whipped cream and sliced strawberries.
