Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Tongs
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Fish Fillets

  • 2 fillets white fish (cod or haddock) rinsed and dried

Breading

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika

Burger Assembly

  • 2 burger buns toasted
  • leafy lettuce
  • tomato slices
  • tartar sauce to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Prepare Ingredients: Rinse and pat dry fish fillets. Combine flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a bowl. Beat the egg in another bowl and place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  • Step 2 – Coat the Fish: Dredge fillets in flour mixture, dip in beaten egg, then coat in breadcrumbs for an even, crunchy layer.
  • Step 3 – Fry the Fish: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry fillets 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • Step 4 – Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the burger buns to add texture and prevent sogginess.
  • Step 5 – Assemble: Place fried fish on the bottom bun, top with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. Add the top bun and serve warm.

Notes

Use panko for extra crunch. You can bake the fish at 400°F for 15–20 minutes for a lighter version. Try spicy mayo or yogurt sauce instead of tartar for variety.
