Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients to ensure you have everything on hand.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add in the large egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, beating until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Baking
