  • 1 lb ground beef lean preferred
  • 3 tbsp butter divided
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice long grain preferred
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper or to taste
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp cheddar preferred
  • chopped parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the uncooked rice, beef broth, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the remaining butter and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

You can add vegetables like peas or bell peppers for extra color and nutrition. For a creamier texture, stir in a splash of cream or milk before serving.
