  • 4 pieces chicken breasts (cubed)

  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic salt

Sauce

  • 1.25 cup sugar Can substitute with sugar alternative
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce Use low-sodium for lower salt
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional) Adjust for spice preference

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools including a cutting board, knife, mixing bowls, and frying pan.
  • Cube the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  • Measure out the flour, spices, and liquids.

Cooking the Chicken

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, and garlic salt.
  • Toss the cubed chicken in this mixture until well-coated.
  • Heat your frying pan over medium-high heat and add oil.
  • Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot pan.
  • Cook for about 4–5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Preparing the Sauce

  • In a separate saucepan, combine the sugar, water, vinegar, salt, and soy sauce.
  • Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil.
  • If using, add the red chili pepper flakes.

Final Steps

  • Reduce the temperature and carefully pour the sauce over the crispy chicken in the frying pan.
  • Stir to combine and let simmer for about 2–3 minutes.
  • Transfer the General Tso's Chicken to a serving dish and enjoy.

Notes
