  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Can be omitted for nut-free version.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all your ingredients.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts using a spatula.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto the sheet, leaving space between each.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Feel free to customize with various chocolate types or nuts.
