  • 1 lb ground beef You can substitute with turkey or lentils for a healthier option.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce Choose quality for better flavor.
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes You can use fresh tomatoes if preferred.
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni For gluten-free option, substitute with gluten-free pasta.
  • 2 cups beef broth Use low-sodium to reduce salt content.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning Feel free to adjust to taste.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your preference.

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients. Chop the onion, mince the garlic, and measure out the canned products and pasta.

Cooking

  • In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula until it’s cooked through.
  • Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, mixing thoroughly. Let it blend for about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the beef broth and Italian seasoning. Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the elbow macaroni and gently stir it into the mixture, ensuring it is well-coated.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes or until the macaroni is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  • Season with salt and pepper as desired. Stir well to combine.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. It also freezes well for up to 3 months.
