  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients, chop the onion, and mince the garlic.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour in the can of diced tomatoes with their juices and the beef broth. Stir the mixture well.
  • Add the orzo and Italian seasoning, ensuring the orzo is submerged in the liquid.
  • Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat and cover the skillet. Let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving.
  • Spoon portions into bowls and serve warm.

Notes

Best served with a side salad and garlic bread. The dish can be customized with vegetables like spinach or zucchini, and variations can include adding cheese or different spices.
