Halloween Cake
A rich and flavorful chocolate cake decorated with vibrant orange icing, perfect for Halloween celebrations.
Ingredients
For the Cake
- 250 g all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
- 200 g sugar
- 75 g cocoa powder Use high-quality for better flavor.
- 10 g baking powder
- 3 pieces eggs Room temperature.
- 250 ml milk Can be substituted with a plant-based milk.
- 100 ml vegetable oil Can be replaced with unsweetened applesauce.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Black food coloring Add as needed for desired color.
For Decoration
- 300 g orange icing Store-bought or homemade.
- Edible decorations (spiders, ghosts, etc.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all the ingredients on your countertop.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- Grease and flour a cake pan to ensure easy release after baking.
Mixing the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Stir well.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, mixing until well blended.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined.
- If desired, add black food coloring and mix until the desired shade is reached.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorating
- While the cake cools, prepare the orange icing.
- Once the cake is cool, spread the orange icing generously on top.
- Decorate with edible decorations to finish.
Notes
Store any leftover cake in an airtight container. It can be kept at room temperature for up to three days or in the fridge for up to a week.
