Ingredients
  

Pastry

  • 1 sheet sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg beaten egg (for egg wash)

Filling

  • 4 oz ham, diced
  • 4 oz cheese (cheddar or Swiss), shredded
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Optional herbs (such as chives or parsley)

Preparation

  • Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the ham into small pieces and shred your cheese of choice.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • On a floured surface, roll out your sheet of puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the pastry into 4-inch squares.
  • In a bowl, combine the diced ham and shredded cheese. Season with salt, pepper, and any chosen herbs.

Filling and Baking

  • Place a spoonful of the ham and cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Fold each pastry square to create triangles or squares, pressing the edges to seal.
  • Brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg.
  • Place the prepared pastries on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in a preheated oven.
