  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced fresh is best for flavor
  • ½ cup pineapple juice can use fresh juice for more flavor
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce tamari can be used for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar choose based on dietary preference
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice freshly squeezed is preferable
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped adds freshness to the dish
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking for sautéing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools, including a large skillet, measuring cups, and cutting board.
  • Mince the garlic and chop the cilantro, ensuring everything is ready to go.

Cooking

  • Pour a bit of olive oil into your large skillet and add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Turn the heat to medium and let the butter melt.
  • Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for around 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Place shrimp in the skillet in a single layer, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  • Pour in the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), ground ginger, and remaining tablespoon of butter, stirring gently.
  • Let the mixture simmer for another minute to thicken the sauce and coat the shrimp.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve with rice or noodles to soak up the sauce, and garnish with extra cilantro if desired. For customization, add red pepper flakes or use other fruits.
