  • ½ cup vegetable oil Can substitute with melted coconut oil.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Important for cake moisture.

  • 1 batch chocolate frosting Use rich chocolate frosting for topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two heart-shaped cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Blend until combined.

Incorporate Boiling Water

  • Stir in the boiling water carefully into the batter until mixed.

Bake the Cake

  • Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool and Frost

  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Frost with chocolate frosting and decorate as desired.

Notes

To keep the cake fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Leftovers can be microwaved for 10 seconds before serving.
