Ingredients
  

Meat Filling

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef or lamb) high quality preferred
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 2 cups peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Mashed Potato Topping

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup shredded cheese optional for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking dish and set aside.
  • In a skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook for 5–7 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Fold in peas, then transfer mixture to a baking dish, spreading evenly.
  • Top with mashed potatoes, spreading smoothly. Sprinkle cheese on top if desired.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F until warmed through. For a lighter twist, use ground turkey or sweet potatoes for the topping.
