  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather all the ingredients to ensure you’re ready to go.
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cooking the Meat

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat for about 7-10 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion becomes translucent. Drain any excess fat.

Assembling the Dish

  • Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan.

Baking

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

Serving

  • Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
