Ingredients
  

For the Peppermint Filling

  • 1 cup powdered sugar Ensure it is free of lumps
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder Use unsweetened for best flavor
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil Melted; can use neutral oil if preferred
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Adjust intensity as desired
  • ΒΌ teaspoon salt

For Coating

  • 8 oz dark chocolate For coating; can use milk or white chocolate as alternatives

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients ensuring the coconut oil is fully melted and the powdered sugar is free of lumps.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, cocoa powder, melted coconut oil, peppermint extract, and salt. Stir until a dough-like consistency forms.
  • Shape the dough into small, flat patties and place on a lined baking sheet.

Freezing

  • Freeze the patties for about 30 minutes to firm them up.

Coating

  • Melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler, stirring continuously until smooth.
  • Dip each patty into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Return the coated patties to the lined baking sheet and let the chocolate set.

Serving

  • Once the chocolate has fully set, enjoy your Homemade Peppermint Patties. They are great for gifting or serving at parties.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. These patties can also be frozen for longer shelf life. Avoid skipping the freezing step to maintain shape during coating.
