Ingredients
  

For the Stir-Fry

  • 1 lb lean ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 3 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen broccoli can be used.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • cup soy sauce (low sodium) Can substitute with tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • ¼ cup honey Maple syrup can be used for a vegan option.
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water) For thickening the sauce.
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

For Serving (Optional)

  • 2 cups cooked rice or noodles
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Preparation

  • Begin by prepping your workspace and gathering all your ingredients.
  • Chop the onion, mince the garlic, and prepare the broccoli florets.
  • Mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.

Cooking the Stir-Fry

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about two minutes until translucent.
  • Add ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spatula until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring frequently.
  • Add broccoli florets and pour in approximately ¼ cup of water. Cover the pan and steam for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender but still crisp.
  • Stir in the honey garlic sauce, ensuring beef and broccoli are coated. Simmer for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry and keep stirring until the sauce thickens, which should take a few minutes.
  • Remove from heat and serve over cooked rice or noodles. Top with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently to avoid overcooking the beef and broccoli.
