Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to make the process smoother.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Making the Brownie Batter

  • Melt the unsalted butter in a large saucepan over low heat until completely melted.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly before moving to the next step.
  • Carefully beat in the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt until smooth and well-blended.
  • If desired, fold in chocolate chips or nuts into the batter without overmixing.

Baking

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • After baking, let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15–20 minutes.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for a week. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
