  • Whisk
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries chopped
  • ½ cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add eggs, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  • Gently fold in chopped maraschino cherries and sliced almonds with a spatula.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best flavor, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months. Add a drizzle of melted chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar for a festive finish.
