Equipment

  • Fondue pot
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Serving platter
  • Fondue forks or skewers

Ingredients

Chocolate Fondue Base

  • 8 oz dark chocolate chopped, 70% cacao preferred
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Dippers

  • strawberries washed and dried
  • bananas sliced
  • apples sliced
  • marshmallows
  • pretzels
  • cookies such as shortbread or biscotti

Instructions

  • Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces for even melting. Wash and prepare all your dippers (fruits, marshmallows, cookies, pretzels) and set them on a serving platter.
  • In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer β€” do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes to allow the chocolate to soften.
  • Whisk gently until smooth and fully melted. If necessary, return to low heat briefly to ensure a creamy texture.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into a fondue pot to keep warm during serving.
  • Arrange your dippers attractively around the fondue pot. Use skewers or fondue forks to dip and enjoy.
  • If chocolate thickens, stir in a splash of warm cream to restore consistency.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use coconut cream and vegan chocolate. Avoid overheating to prevent grainy texture. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3–5 days and reheated gently over low heat. Try variations like adding a splash of liqueur (Amaretto, Grand Marnier) or a pinch of chili powder for a fun twist!
