Ingredients
  

Cocoa Base

  • 2 cups milk or milk alternative like almond or oat milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

Toppings

  • mini marshmallows for topping
  • whipped cream dairy or dairy-free
  • chocolate chips optional garnish
  • crushed peppermint optional topping
  • cinnamon sticks for stirring and flavor
  • caramel sauce drizzle on top

Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients. Measure milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla extract before heating.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved and smooth, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla extract, stir to combine, and remove from heat.
  • Pour the hot cocoa into mugs and place them on your serving table or bar setup.
  • Set out toppings such as marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate chips, peppermint, and caramel sauce for guests to customize their drinks.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your personalized hot cocoa creations!

Notes

Heat milk gently to avoid scalding. For a vegan version, use almond or oat milk and dairy-free whipped cream. Taste and adjust sweetness before serving. Leftover cocoa can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop over low heat.
