Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is truly softened.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Could substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • ½ cup sea salt flakes Can adjust amount to taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients into the butter and sugar blend until just combined.

Baking

  • Press the dough evenly into the greased baking pan.
  • Pour the caramel sauce over the pressed dough and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle sea salt flakes over the caramel layer.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for about 30-60 minutes.
  • Cut into squares or rectangles and serve at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. Will keep at room temperature for 3-5 days, or refrigerated for a week. Can freeze individually wrapped bars for up to 3 months.
