Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Jar with Lid
  • Tongs

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs peeled
  • 1 cup vinegar white or apple cider
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1-2 tsp red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 1-2 cloves garlic optional
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds optional

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure the eggs are peeled and ready to use.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine vinegar, water, salt, and sugar. Heat until just boiling, stirring until dissolved.
  • Add red pepper flakes, garlic, and mustard seeds to the boiling mixture. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to release flavors.
  • Remove from heat and allow the pickling liquid to cool slightly for 10 minutes.
  • Place peeled hard-boiled eggs in a clean glass jar.
  • Pour the cooled pickling liquid over the eggs, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  • Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 48 hours before tasting for best flavor.
  • Serve chilled as a snack, appetizer, or alongside a charcuterie board.

Notes

For extra spice, add sliced jalapeños or a pinch of chipotle powder. Always use clean jars to prevent contamination, and keep eggs fully submerged for even pickling. Store in the fridge for up to four weeks.
