Ingredients

For the Skillet

  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking the beef.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Or use another cheese of your choice.
  • ¼ cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut cream for dairy-free.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Optional.
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional, for heat.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the onion and mince the garlic to chop down on prep time. Rinse the broccoli florets thoroughly and set them aside.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once it’s shimmering, add the ground beef and break it apart. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until the beef is browned and no longer pink.
  • Push the beef to one side of the skillet. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the empty space, sauté for about 3 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  • Stir in the broccoli florets with the beef mixture and sauté for about a minute.
  • Sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir thoroughly to ensure everything is seasoned.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and allow it to cook for 5-7 minutes until the broccoli is tender yet crisp.
  • Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine, letting it thicken slightly.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the mixture, cover, and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • If using, add Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes, stirring gently to mix in.
  • Once everything is combined and hot, serve hot from the skillet.

Notes

To store leftovers, allow the dish to cool, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. Can freeze for longer storage.
