Base

  • 1 cup butter, softened Should be softened for best texture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or your choice) Can be substituted with seeds for nut-free variations.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet) Choose based on your flavor preference.
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk Dairy-free alternatives are available.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  • Gradually add flour and mix until just combined.
  • Press half of the mixture into a greased baking pan.
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts and chocolate chips over the pressed mixture.
  • In a small pot over low heat, combine caramel bits and sweetened condensed milk, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • Pour the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips and nuts, spreading evenly.
  • Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the caramel layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

These bars are great for various occasions, can be made ahead, and are customizable to suit dietary needs. Pair well with ice cream or coffee.
