Ingredients

For the Blondies

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples (about 1 medium apple)

For the Maple Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients in one place. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your 9×9-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it with butter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set it aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until evenly combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the blondies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before applying the glaze.

Preparing the Maple Glaze

  • While the blondies are baking, whisk together the glaze ingredients (powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract) until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled blondies and slice them into squares.

Notes
