  • ½ cup warm milk For dairy-free, use almond or oat milk.

  • ¼ cup butter, melted Can substitute with coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast Ensure yeast is fresh for best results.
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Add a pinch of nutmeg for enhanced flavor.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts or almonds.
  • ½ cup maple syrup Maple syrup is essential for flavor.
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure smooth baking.
  • Measure the warm milk and sprinkle the active dry yeast into it. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

Combine Wet Ingredients

  • In the same bowl, add melted butter, sugar, egg, salt, and ground cinnamon to the yeast mixture. Mix well until smooth.

Make the Dough

  • Gradually add flour to the wet mixture, one cup at a time, stirring until the dough pulls away from the bowl.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.

Let Dough Rise

  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Rolling and Filling

  • Once risen, roll the dough out onto a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and chopped pecans evenly over the rolled dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into equal pieces about 1 inch thick.
  • Place the pieces into a greased baking dish, cut side up.

Second Rise

  • Pour the maple syrup evenly over the buns and allow to rise again for 30 minutes.

Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and syrup is bubbling.
