Ingredients
  

For the Pastry

  • 1 package shortcrust pastry Store-bought or homemade.

For the Filling

  • 300 g mincemeat Use high-quality mincemeat for best flavor.
  • 1 large egg Beaten, for glazing.

For Dusting

  • to taste powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Rolling and Cutting

  • Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
  • Cut out circles for the base and tops of the pies, ensuring base circles are slightly larger.

Assembly

  • Press the base circles into a muffin tin.
  • Spoon the mincemeat into each pastry base, leaving a little space at the top.
  • Cover with the top circles and press down the edges to seal.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Serving

  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  • Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes.
