  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can be replaced with low-calorie sweetener.
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened Can be replaced with coconut oil or dairy-free margarine.
  • 2 large eggs For a vegan version, substitute with flax eggs.
  • 0.5 cups milk Almond or oat milk can be used as alternatives.
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional) Can be substituted with granulated sugar.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Assemble all your ingredients before starting.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for longer storage.
